Set off on an unforgettable husky safari through the winter landscapes of Ranua! Arctic Borealis Huskies’ 2-hour husky safari is a popular experience for adults and an excellent choice for anyone who wants to experience an authentic dog sled ride in Lapland.
The safari begins with a driving briefing
The safari begins with a driving briefing, during which the basics of steering the team and safety instructions are covered. After that, you’ll head over to the dog teams. The huskies are ready to go and eagerly awaiting their chance to run along the snow-covered trails.
Each sled carries two adults and any children. One of the adults steers the team whilst the other sits back and enjoys the scenery, the speed and the winter landscape of Lapland. Depending on conditions, the route is approximately 14–20 kilometres long. Halfway through the safari, there is a break, during which the adults can swap places between the driver and the passenger. With the guide’s assistance, you can take a photo with your own camera as a souvenir of the safari, if you wish.
After the safari
After the ride, there’s time to thank the huskies, give the dogs a scratch and ask the guides more about the huskies’ lives, training and daily routines. This experience is also suitable for families with children, but due to the length of the safari, it is not recommended for children under the age of 8.
