A 30-minute husky safari in Ranua

Come and experience the joy of a husky safari with the whole family! Arctic Borealis Huskies’ 30-minute husky safari is the perfect choice, especially for families with children, first-timers and anyone who wants to discover the world of sled dogs in an easy and safe way.

The safari begins with a driving briefing

The programme begins with a driving briefing, during which the basics of steering the team and safety instructions are covered. After this, you’ll head over to the huskies, who are eagerly waiting to set off on the trail.

Each sledge carries two adults and any children. One of the adults acts as the driver, whilst the other enjoys the ride from the passenger seat. During the approximately 20-minute ride, you’ll get to experience the joy of watching the huskies at work and soak up the atmosphere of the Lapland countryside. Halfway through the safari, there’s a brief stop so that the adults can swap places between driver and passenger.

After the safari

After the ride, there’s time to say hello to the huskies, take photos and chat with the guides about the sled dogs’ lives, training and daily routines. For many visitors, this is one of the most memorable moments of the experience.

Especially for families with children

The short duration of the safari makes it an excellent option even for the youngest members of the family. Children travel safely in the same sledge as the adults throughout the safari, so the programme is well suited to animal lovers of all ages.

  • €84 / teenager (aged 12–16)

  • Children under 3 go free when sitting on an adult’s lap

Please note

  • Two adults and any children travel together in one sledge.

  • Halfway through the safari, adults may swap places with the driver.

  • The safari includes a driving briefing before departure.

🕒 Arrival time: Please arrive at the venue about 15 minutes before the programme begins. This will give you plenty of time to get dressed at your leisure and prepare for the experience.

To make your journey as comfortable as possible, we recommend putting on your warmest winter clothes and your own winter boots just before the safari begins. This will make your drive to Ranua more relaxed and ensure you remain comfortable before heading outdoors.

In winter, the best way to dress is in several warm layers, which will keep you comfortable throughout the safari.

⚠️ Please note that the journey to Ranua may take slightly longer than your sat-nav/GPS estimates, so allow plenty of time for the journey.
⚠️ Please arrive at the meeting point well in advance of the safari’s start time so that you have plenty of time to get ready and take part in the driving briefing. The safari will set off on schedule, and unfortunately we cannot delay the departure. For this reason, we cannot wait for anyone arriving more than 5 minutes late.
