1-hour husky safari – an experience for the whole family
Come and experience an authentic husky safari and the tranquillity of Lapland’s wilderness with Arctic Borealis Huskies! This activity, suitable for all ages, offers the chance to meet our enthusiastic huskies and try your hand at steering the dog sledge yourself.
The safari begins with a briefing, during which the basics of driving the team and safety instructions are covered. After the briefing, you’ll set off on the trail, pulled by the huskies.
On the safari, one adult acts as the driver, whilst the other enjoys the journey from the back seat, admiring the beautiful Lapland scenery. Two adults and the youngest child in the family travel together. If there are more children or if they are older, they will travel with the guide.
About halfway through the 40-minute ride, there’s a short break, during which you can swap drivers. During the break, the guide can also take photos with your own camera as a memento of the experience.
After the dog sled ride, there will be time to give the huskies a scratch as a thank you for a job well done, and to ask the guide more about the dogs’ lives, training and daily routines.
Please note that in October and November we cannot guarantee sufficient snow conditions for a sled safari. In such cases, the safaris will be carried out using safe and easy-to-drive summer carts. The experience is just as memorable as a sleigh safari on snow, as the focus is on the enthusiastic huskies, the Lapland countryside and an authentic dog-sledding experience. We always run the safaris on a sled if conditions allow, but for safe sledding we generally need at least around 20 cm of well-trodden snow on the route.
